Press release by: Ministère de l'Économie
As of April 1, 2024, the new version of Belgian standard NBN T52-716, which requires a reduction in the sulfur content of heating oil from 50 ppm (0.005%) to 10 ppm (0.001%), comes into force in Belgium, bringing an end to the marketing of 50 ppm heating oil in Belgium.
Given that Luxembourg importers traditionally import a very large proportion of their heating oil from Belgium, 10 ppm fuel oil is destined to replace 50 ppm fuel oil in Luxembourg.
10 ppm heating oil is equivalent to 50 ppm heating oil, and offers a number of advantages, including reduced environmental impact.
