Effective April 1, 2024, the new version of the Belgian standard NBN T52-716, which requires a reduction in the sulfur content of heating oil from 50 ppm (0.0051% by weight) to 10 ppm (0.0011% by weight), will take effect in Belgium, resulting in the end of the sale of 50 ppm heating oil in Belgium.
Since Luxembourg importers traditionally source a very large portion of their heating oil from Belgium, 10 ppm heating oil is intended to replace 50 ppm heating oil in Luxembourg.
10 ppm heating oil is equivalent to 50 ppm heating oil and offers numerous advantages, including a reduced environmental impact.
