Petro-Center Launches HVO100 in Luxembourg

Petro-Center is launching HVO100 in Luxembourg.

Petro-Center S.A. is taking another step toward more sustainable mobility by introducing HVO100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) fuel at its Esso station in Leudelange, during its grand opening on May 11, 2026. This renewable diesel is intended for both private individuals and professional transport operators seeking to reduce their environmental footprint. With this new offering, Petro-Center becomes one of the first distributors of HVO100 in the Grand Duchy.

The fuel is sold under the Esso Ethos+ brand at the Esso Petro-Center gas station, located at 2 rue Jean Fischbach, L-3372 Leudelange.

What is HVO100?

Esso Ethos+ Renewable Diesel HVO100 is a diesel fuel made from 100 % renewable feedstocks—primarily waste vegetable oils and animal fats that have been converted into high-quality fuel. It helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 85 % over its entire life cycle, compared to conventional fossil diesel.¹

Esso Ethos+ can be used directly in XTL-compatible engines without any technical modifications and can also be used alternately with any standard diesel fuel that complies with the EN590 standard, making it a flexible and readily available solution. Its performance is also suited to winter conditions, with a minimum Cold Filter Plugging Point of -20°C.²

With this offer, Petro-Center reaffirms its commitment to a more sustainable energy future in Luxembourg, complementing its other solutions such as BESTCHARGE electric vehicle charging stations and EcoPlus diesel fuel.

The development of renewable fuels such as HVO100 complements this overall strategy by offering an immediate alternative for sectors where electrification is not yet fully feasible.»
